CASE STUDY #16 GUEST HOUSE
Oak View, CA
2,120 SF
For this project — located on the site of a replica of Rodney Walker’s iconic Case Study House #16 that was built by the renowned architect’s son — TGA designed a guest house and garage that pays homage to the nearby masterpiece while establishing a distinctive architectural presence of its own. Blackened steel mullions on the windows and glass garage doors reinterpret the characteristic fenestration of Rodney Walker’s design in a new context. The exterior materials palette — Cor-Ten steel panels and board-formed concrete — creates a durable, fire-resistant structure that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape.

REFERENCING AN ARCHITECTURAL ICON
