MONTECITO STREET HOTEL
Santa Barbara, CA
31,700 SF
TGA designed this 32-room hotel — located in a leisurely downtown neighborhood blocks away from Stearns Wharf — as a social hub that invites guests and community members to mix and connect with one another. A long store-front on the ground floor contains an art gallery and a cafe, opening the hotel to the surrounding neighborhood. Large outdoor decks on the third level overlook the streets and offer guests a place to socialize together. The rooms— one- and two-bedroom suites ranging in size from 342 square feet to 748 square feet — contain kitchens and lounge spaces, creating a guest-experience more akin to that of an Airbnb than a traditional hotel. The hotel’s grid-like facade embraces architectural character of the Funk Zone neighborhood, a previously industrial district that has recently become a spirited arts-and-culture district.
SOCIAL HOTEL
A cafe and art gallery on the ground floor create lively new gathering places in the neighborhood. The hotel’s balconies and roof deck overlook the surroundings, allowing guests to enjoy the energy of the area’s street-life from the comfort of their rooms.
